the market report for January-June here.
Sales
in Fearrington were brisk during the Spring market after a relatively
sluggish winter. Quite a few Fearrington residents have started
moving into their Galloway Ridge homes since the first units were
complete in August, and as a result there is a large supply of homes
currently on the resale market in the Multiple Listing System. Overall,
the
market for Fearrington continues to strengthen, with more and more
interest in Fearrington as a less expensive alternative to Meadowmont
and Southern Village in Chapel Hill. Pittsboro has become more of
a destination in its own right, and we are likely to continue to
see an increase in demand for homes in Fearrington of all types.
The
number of sales was down in the third quarter, but that is typical
for this time of year and to be expected. It will likely take a
few months for the additional inventory caused by the movement into
Galloway Ridge to be absorbed. At Lynn Hayes Properties, we have
had an upsurge in contacts from out of state people seeking to relocate
to the area, particularly for retirement. For many, the hurricanes
that have hit Florida recently have made North Carolina and particularly
Fearrington a more attractive alternative.
